Nutritional Supplements: Some quick reviews

Posted by NicktheMayor On September - 12 - 2009

About a month and a half ago I joined a gym and started hitting it pretty hard. During this time I have tried a few different protein and fat loss supplements. Instead of telling you which one gives the best results (as I have mixed what I have taken throughout this period) I will give you an overall opinion of taste and whatever else I know about it.

Body Fortress: Super Advanced Whey ProteinBody Fortress

I use this more than any other protein supplement because I already had a tub when I started back and because I bought another because of the incredibly cheap price – less than $12 a tub at Walmart. It has a good amount of protein from whey, however it also contains creatine, which in my experience will add mass but it is mass from water retention. The other drawback is that no matter how much you mix or shake it there is always about a teaspoon of sand like grit at the bottom of the cup.

Iron-Tek: Essential 100% Protein Mix:iron tek

This tastes pretty good and from all of my research is a good blnd of protein and other nutrients essential for muscle growth. I was given a tub of this from a friend and the only reason I am not currently using it is because it is expired according to the package. I am not sure whether or not the products benefits have actually expired but I don’t want to take the chance.

Muscle Milk:muscle_milk_preview

This is hands down 100% without a doubt the best tasting protein shake I have ever had. The downfalls that I have read stem from the fat content. According to my research this is supposedly “good” fat. Not too sure about that. I will say that along with it tasting great because of the higher fat and caloric content this does satisfy my hunger for quite some time when used as a meal replacement.

EAS Myoplex Lite: Myoplex lite

A close second to Muscle Milk in the taste category with far less calories. I just bought a 4 pack today for this weekend and have not had a chance to review the contentstoo closely. Some people say you pay for the name with products like EAS, but I tend to trust what they put into their shakes.

MIX 1: mix 1_

This is an all natural nutritional supplement drink that has a great taste that reminded me a bit of V8 Splash. It is hard to find in my area but I may order some of this online at some point @ mix1life.com The website has a lot of great information about a balance of nutrition for your body.

Ripped Fuel 5x: ripped_fuel5x

Just bought this today. Kind of skeptical of fat burners, but we’ll see and I’ll report back later. One benefit to the product is that each tablet contains 99mg of caffeine which should be enough for you (or me) to stay off the Monster or Redbull.
